STSB update + OWOH Winnings

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Sketch Books (STSB) is filling up. We now have 10 participant's including me and Stephanie, I counted wrong the other day. I'm told we may have another sistah if her computer isn't acting quirky. Remember, we're aiming for 12. I figure I'd give it to this Friday evening and if we don't have anyone else interested at this time then we could draw for who gets an extra month or we could do collaborative pages.

I have now set up a Yahoo Group just for us! It's called CreativeSistahs... Yay! Here is a link to go to Creative Sistahs. From here we can share thoughts and pictures, have a poll, start a conversation in chat and more! I thought this would be a great place to keep all our sketch book stuff and ask and answer questions. It doesn't cost anything to join a Yahoo Group. There won't be any spam since I have it set up to where I have to allow users access to join. So if you didn't get an invitation for the group through your email address, then you might have forgotten to give it to me! Please do as soon as you can =) You can also just apply through the link above. Oh and by the way, my "handle" is ArtsyFartsyMe... of course!

Also, don't forget we need 1 and maybe 2 more sistah's! If you have a blogging buddy that you think might like to participate please ask them! You can direct them to here which is the Sisterhood post. I still haven't got a badge yet, but I will soon. Some already have a sketch book and I encourage everyone to go ahead and find one you've got lying around waiting to be used (blank of course) or buy a new one. So be looking for those Blick, Michael's and JoAnns coupons... haha. Just remember these are getting mailed each month so size and weight will impact the cost to send it $$$$.

Also...

I wanted to share a card making book I won from Therese at Design 48 through the OWOH. It's got all kinds of inspiration in there. Thank you Therese! Unfortunately, she didn't leave me a link for her blog and now I can't find her. Let this be a lesson kids, leave your blog address and name on all your emails!

Have a great rest of the week!

Yee-Haw! The Loot is Pouring In!

OWOH Loot that is! Just look at the treasures that have made their way into my heart!

From Brandy at Artbrat's Bits and Pieces... a sweet little mixed media treasure box that she made along with her beautiful mermaid calling card and I love mermaids!!

From Sanna at Sannasartmind "So Many Hats" 6"x8" Mixed media collage that almost made it into Somerset magazine! It was so beautifully wrapped as well.

From Carolyn at LilDarlings by Carolyn I received "The Smallest Teeny Tiny Piggy Bank with coins" so adorable...  She managed to send it even though she had been without power due to the nasty ice storm... been there. Yuck!

From Laura at Artworks Studio and "Outside the Lines" blog... just for the simple task of asking for it... a stack of multi-colored envelopes that will come in really handy. So generous.

I also received another that I will post as soon as I get a picture of it. It's 1 am now and there is no sunlight which equals really crappy pictures so we must wait.

I am so filled with happiness that the OWOH giving spirit has brought out. I don't know if that sentence made sense, but you get the idea. What generous people who just pour out their souls through their work, it's just amazing to feel the giving spirit that I've encountered through OWOH. Thank you, truly.

On another note, we have got the gunkies again here at my house. Strep throat is running rampant in the school among other junk and I have felt like doo doo since Saturday evening. I don't think we have Strep, and I hope we don't get it! Today I have the privilege of eating with no taste sensation what so ever. What a waste of food and talk about no satisfaction whatsoever, jeesh. So I haven't wasted my chocolate ice cream I have hidden in the basement freezer at least. Yeah, I'm one of those. Food hiders. What can I say, it is sad but true. I feel like a big loser too, because I haven't mailed off the book yet to T. I will, I promise!

This brings me to the Sisterhood of the Traveling Sketchbooks. I haven't done anything else with it yet since I've felt so puny. I'm sorry :(  I know there is confusion about it. Plus, we still need 5 more people that are willing to join. Maybe I should set a deadline. That way if we don't have the 10 we need by that date, we will proceed and maybe some will get lucky and get an extra month. So if you're reading this and want join the sistah's, there is still time! We'd love to have you. Please chime in on your blog if you want to about it to stir interest.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!

I should say winners cause I decided to give away 3 more items because of all the sweet comments I've gotten. So with no further adu...

First prize is a 8x10 matted montage of my photography and short poem by my partner Gale Woolems as part of our GeeJayCreations shop called Listen to your Heart.

First prize winner is... Rebecca of Rebecca's Rainbow Kisses

Second prize is the Celestial Series note card set you've already seen.

Second prize winner is... Marfi of Incipient Wings

Third prize is a handy and pretty little peel off scratch pad called Leopard Jungle, all digital art by me and painstakingly hand cut and glued by none other than yours truly. Notice these are not for sale on my Etsy Shop because they're such a pain in the you know what. (I really want to say pain in the ass, but I'm afraid I'll offend someone. oops.) I have some left over and may list them though. I have many different designs. And yeah, these pictures suck. It photographed them at night with a puny little lightbulb. It... what am I typing? It puts the lotion on the skin... we'll see who gets that movie quote and a favorite line of mine cause I'm kinda twisted like that.

Third prize winner is... Sharon at My Story Art

Finally, a fourth prize is another handy dandy and pretty little peel off scratch pad with a drawing of mine called Man in the Moon for which I also have a blank inside Thank You note card with the same design in my shop. Notice the prize is just for the pad, sorry 'bout your luck.

Fourth and final prize winner is... Regi from Southern OOAKS

Congratulations to all the winners! I really hope you use and enjoy your gifts. If they're not your thing, please feel free to re-gift it with no hard feelings ;) Cause I'm easy like Sunday Morning.

Now my little pretties... tune in later cause as soon as I hear back from all these super duper lucky people and get their goodies mailed off I'm having another little giveaway. Let's plan for Monday, k?

Don't forget if you are a winner, I need to hear back from you with your address no later than Friday night at midnight (my time - central) or again... sorry 'bout your luck and I'll be sending your goods to somebody else on Saturday.

Is there a Blog-oholic Anonymous?

So you all know I'm a night owl. But that doesn't mean I get to sleep in until noon (I wish!). So... while I should be sleeping like baby kitties...

shhh...
I look more like poor Zoey, who has to share her bed with the bed hogs... and who doesn't get as much sleep as she should. Notice her blood shot eyes.. poor thing, here baby, I've got some Visine I'll share.

I'm up reading blogs! I can't help myself... I just can't stop. I've got a neck and back ache out of this world and my derrière is throbbing from sitting in my broken chair. Yes, I said broken. Probably from all the crap I eat and plop on this cheap chair. It also gets my sciatic nerve going and I still wont' stop. I put my son to bed and tell myself... ok tonight I'm really tired, I'll just spend 30 minutes online puttering around and go to bed or maybe catch up on Medium. But no... 3 hours later and here I am. Literally, 3 hours later. I think I might have a problem. "hi, I'm Jaime and I'm a blog-oholic." Say it now... *Hi Jaime*

I may be getting a little slap happy. I'm running on low sleep. I'm probably backlogged by 8 hours or so this week alone. I know I'm not alone out here! Gimmee a shout out!

Also, if you commented on my blog from the OWOH post and I still haven't gotten back to you yet please hang on. I'm still going and you know I practically leave a book on everyone's blog. oyi. If you are a new follower, I promise I'll be by to your blog soon and reciprocate! Not just to do that, but because if you care enough to see what's going on in my life, I want to know what's going on in yours! Cause that's how I roll... haha (I don't know where that came from) I think I need some chocolate.

Owwwww... my aching neck

Thunder massaging Zoey

My neck, my back, my neck and my back.

Ok, that's funny for those of you that don't know it. I can't remember what movie it's from but my husband and I crack up on each other with that line. Although it doesn't get me the massages I'd like anymore.  pfttt.

But truly, that's what is hurting at the moment as I read all these fantastic blogs from OWOH. Here it is 1:46 am again and I'm still reading these posts. If I haven't gotten to yours yet, please be patient. I am answering each one individually, and you all know I got a lotta hot air.

Thank you to all my new groupies (hee hee). I really don't think of you that way I just thought it was cute. I have joined quite a few new blogs myself. Man, there are a lot of cool people out there! Maybe some of that coolness, sweetness and creativeness will rub off on me.

Wow! That's a lot of reading!

The very first thing I want to say is Welcome to my new friends! I feel so loved. I'm so glad you decided to follow along my crazy blog. Please chime in and often :) I love to hear people's thoughts and opinions!

Well, I know those of you who are participating in OWOH are busier than a cat covering up crap on a marble floor! Cause I am!! First of all, I am proud to say I got listed as #29 in the blog list. I told you all I was a night owl. I stayed up till 2am my time to send that link. Second of all, this being my first time around for the owoh thing, I am just amazed at all the nice comments and sweet gestures made by everyone. If there are this many nice people out there, why the heck is everybody fighting all the time for?

I am a little embarrassed about my post for owoh. I think I took it to heart a little too much. Holy Cow! I wrote a dang book about myself, didn't I? I should've done some research first to see how much people were posting. I'll bet people see my post and groan... haha

Just a quick review here of a movie my hubby and I saw this weekend. It was "The Fighter" with Mark Walberg. What a great movie. Very entertaining and it's based on a true story. Brought back memories for me. I remember my dad and I watching HBO Boxing on Saturday nights. It's really the only sport I like. All the music through the movie, I knew well. It kinda made me feel old... haha

Have fun reading all the jizillion posts, I'm back at it.

OWOH Welcome!

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog that I call ArtsyFartsyMe! This is my first year to participate in the One World One Heart tour. Sadly, it's also my last, as you all know that this is it's last year. I'm so glad you've stopped by. Let me introduce myself to you...

My name is Jaime and I have many different hats that I wear (just like most women). It's kinda hard to label them all but I'll go through a few and these are not in any particular order. I am an artist, I like to draw, take a zillion photographs, paint, create things and also design, paint and draw on the computer. My background is in Graphic Design because that's how you get paid! The term starving artist is one I understand, but if the average gal wants to actually make a living then unfortunately you gotta work for the man. I do try to sell my artwork through the normal venues that are now available to us all. You can see the sidebar if you want to see stuff I've created.  I say this as I am currently staying at home with my almost 5 year old son. He turns 5 in March. Now that he'll be in all day school come August I have the opportunity to jump back in the race if I choose to. Thankfully, I have that choice.

I'm a Mommy to my very energetic and funny son, Asher. Having him later in life has been a joy. I wasn't sure I wanted to have kids when everyone else was having them which would've been in my early twenties, but God has a plan and I had a change of heart around 32 or so. I had put the age 35 in my mind that I wanted to have a child by then and it all worked pretty much as planned. I had Asher one month before I turned 36. On the other hand... I am exhausted, haha. If I knew how much fun he is and how much love I have for him, I would've done it 10 years sooner. Also, if I had known that my mom would've only had 3 years with her grandson, whom she waited so patiently for, I definitely would've done it sooner. That is one of my greatest regrets in life. My mother was my best friend. She was a great lady and my best teacher of life. I lost her to cancer October 20th, 2009 and I miss her terribly everday and it shows a lot, especially on my blog where I unload a lot of my thoughts and everyday life. Of course I am thankful for the 39 years I had with her, but can't help but feel cheated in not having her here with me now. I'm kinda selfish that way. I'm also an only child, so enough said ;)

I love flowers and am an avid gardener. I live in zone 6b (Indiana, USA) and am sick to death of winter so I'm really looking forward to Groundhog Day because even though I know it's just lore, I know that spring is close. Every year I grow from seed Heirloom Tomatoes and sell them as plants. It's very small time, but I love to do this. I have a local following and I just ordered my seed this last week. So it's almost tomato planting time... a very busy time for me. I'll be posting about that soon. I always go overboard and plant waaaay to many tomatoes in my own garden especially considering I'm the only who eats them. Last year I had 20 plants, just for myself. I do give some away to family and friends but I also make a mean salsa and can the rest. I also grow and put up corn, green beans, jalapeno's, peppers, watermelons and cantaloupe. I was born in city but have become a country girl. We live way out in the boonies and have 10 acres and a small lake.

I'm a Christian, and believe in God and that He loves us all. I believe that I will see my mom and my loved ones that have passed again someday in Heaven. I'm not a Holy Roller, but I am strong in my beliefs and I have to ask for forgiveness everyday as I know I'm a sinner (some days worse than others! haha). I tend to have a potty mouth but try to curb it especially here for my blog.

I don't post everyday, it comes in spurts. Sometimes a week goes by without a peep from me. I'm kinda moody and sarcastic but funny too. I'm loyal and consider myself a "helper". I get myself into things without thinking them through sometimes, but that's how I am and as much as I try to change, I realize that I am a Taurus and dang, I can be stubborn. I'm naturally a night owl and stay up waaay too late most nights so that means I am a very slow starter in the morning. I tend to be very messy, something I try to fix, but end up doing anyway. *notice huge mess in background on above photo* Ah well.

I have a bunch of fur babies that I complain about and brag about all the time. My sweet baby Glove, my 19 year old big fluffy white kitty, Zoey, my new faithful companion (doggy) and the newest members are twin boys, Thunder and Lighting who are mess making havoc wreaking monster like ninja kittens. And somehow this one lone Cichlid fish has managed to stay alive while all the others ended up either being eaten or flushed. I have more messes in my life than I have time for!

I love dark humor, a good steak (Medium Rare Ribeye please), Mexican food, Stuffed French Toast from IHOP and Pina Colada's. I've got about 16 sweet tooths (teeth?) and give in to them almost daily. I love ice cream, milk chocolate and I hate to exercise unless it's digging a hole to plant something in or dancing to a good beat. So as you can guess, there's a little bit of a weight issue here... Oh and I just love to listen to music, I feel it just sings to my soul. A song can make me cry, laugh, think deeply and all of the above. Music inspires me to create, to love, sometimes to hate and most of all music inspires me to live. I love all kinds of music, not just one genre. Some old stand-bys are Rock, blues, Spanish guitar (If I believed in reincarnation, I would swear I was Spanish at one time!). In my player right now I've got some Audio Slave, Fleetwood Mac, Steely Dan, Romantic Spanish Guitar, Blues Traveler, Sigur Ros and Little Big Town.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you come back and see what's new around here and I can't wait to learn more about you and read your blog! I'm not always this chatty, I promise. If you are so inclined, join me and become a treasured new friend (follower - I hate that term). I hope to meet all kinds of new friends to keep in touch with, learn from and maybe teach something to or perhaps I'll have to be a terrible example of what not to do... Hahaha! My door prize for getting this far and commenting on this post is a set of gift cards (see below) which are blank inside. Winner will be announced February 17th. Just make sure that I can get back in touch with you by leaving your email on the post or by having your bio filled out with your email on it in case you're the winner.

Special thanks to Lisa, creator of OWOH for this incredible idea of fellowship. I'm betting someone may be willing to carry the torch.

So long for now!
