Sale of Vietnam Soldier Montage

Yesterday I mailed off a customized Vietnam Soldier Montage that I created with my friend Gale Woolem's poem if you remember from about a year ago maybe a little longer. Ok, so this is a really bad photo of it, but I matted and framed it up at 11:30 at night and of course I forgot to take a picture the next morning, so I'm glad I at least snapped this with my phone. What handy devices those are!

Here's a digital shot in case you haven't seen it. The client had me customize it with her father in law's photo and rank. It will be presented for Father's Day. What a great gift, I'm sure he will love it. If you would like to have one for yourself or to give, it can be purchased here for $25 plus shipping. I normally sell it just matted, but I can frame it if you prefer.

Tonight I'm going on another ghost hunt/investigation! I'm so excited. My friend that went on the last ghost investigation to Waverly Hills Sanitorium is the one I'm going with. I got a good picture last time of something I cannot explain. An orb that was emitting its own light. So I'm hoping this will be just as good. We are going to some cabins in Rockport, Indiana with a group called SIPI, Southern Indiana Paranormal Investigators. My husband thinks I'm nuts... haha maybe I am. Stay tuned!

Happiness in the mailbox

I opened up my mailbox last night to find a happy little envelope with stickers and hearts and stamps and was so excited to discover that it held goodies inside!

In this world of automation, there is nothing like getting a hand written letter in the mailbox. And not that fakey hand written look either. Nope, this is the real thing. Just look what I got! My sweet friend Lisa over at Priti Studio must've felt sorry for me because I've been so pitiful lately, haha. Naww... she was just being her sweet giving self.

Isn't it a beautiful little set? I call it a set because she sent along one of her cards, I think it was a moo card, isn't that what their called? It's beautiful and a tiny piece of art! Now to the gorgeous pendant... I think I even made a little peep sound when I looked at the pendant and saw the word artist on there. I always feel kinda strange referring to myself as artist, but wearing it is a different story. I will proudly wear this beautiful piece of art by my friend Lisa. It makes me so happy. I love Frida and Lisa paints her beautifully.

If you haven't visited Lisa in a while you should go peek in. She just finished a spectacular commissioned piece of The Last Supper

Thank you, thank you Lisa... you've made my difficult week suck a little less.

p.s. is this font size crazy big?

Butterfly Housing

I've been working on painting a butterfly box for a Christmas present and I've got it finished except for the clear coats. I used acrylics and of course I had to add a little metallic paint and what perfect place to add that but the only colored butterfly on the whole box. It looks a bit like a hot mess in these photos, I took them at night. But it really does look better in natural light.

close up of metallic butterfly!
I've been sick this week and to add insult to injury, I fell down my very wicked stairs last night. I am so very sore. I couldn't even sleep on my injured side last night.

wicked stairs - see my slippers? that's where I landed.
Luckily, I landed on my very cushioned caboose and didn't break anything, bone-wise. It could have been very ugly. These stairs are wicked I tell you and there is a brick floor at the bottom. I was at the very top and took a step or two down (I had slippers on) and I felt it slide out from under me and down I went . I think I even bounced. I landed where you see the slippers, about half way down. Like I said it could've ended very badly. At least I didn't have an audience. I won't be wearing those slippers again. This is a good reason to try and talk my husband into a main floor studio!

Happy Holidays!

Treasure Boxes

I've been painting some treasure boxes the last couple days and here's one I call Indian Sun. I have a show coming up and I thought I'd offer some new things for Christmas. Although at the rate I'm creating these, I might not have many to offer!

I had an eye in the center of the sun motiff, but decided I didn't like it. So I filled it in.

Then I felt it needed more embellishment, so I started playing around with some bling...

Ehhhh... not big enough and not quite right.

But this... this I like. And so it is.

I have another box that is ready to show you, but I need to take some final pictures to show it off. I will tell you it's a pretty and shiny snake head! If these don't sell at the show, I'll be adding them to my Etsy and Artfire shops.

Thanks to all you guys... my friends, fellow artists, creative minds, and incredibly talented bloggers. You are wrapped up in one as the people who always bring encouragement and love with your comments. I love you guys! Our "little" online world... it is fantastic!

Surprise in my mailbox

I opened up my mailbox this morning and I had a tasty surprise waiting for me! My best friend Kelly had sent me a package with a cute Halloween card and some chocolate goodies inside. She went all out, too. It was Libs Chocolate! For those of you not from my area, Libs is a local chocolate and candy maker that has the best premier chocolates! Works of art each one, they are.

Look at the deliciousness...

how cute!

mmph mph mmm... it's a chocolate covered Oreo! mmm... *nosh nosh nom*

seal of yumminess
cute little ghouls all lined up!

oh yeah, it's soooo good!
Death by chocolate, what better way?

On Wednesday, there was a town Halloween Party for the kids and Asher decided to be a cowboy this year. Better than the cat he claimed he would be all year long... haha  So I made him this cute outfit including the chaps and matching vest. He's just missing boots. I'm in a non scary get up of a happy gypsy. I just love dressing up and could do it all year. In fact I might!

Happy Friday night! It's almost Halloween!!!!!!

Oh My Lucky Stars!

My lucky friendship stars are shining brightly down on me! My good friend Sandra over at Under The Sun With Me has sent me the sweetest Valentine's package! I say my lucky stars because I feel so lucky to be friends with Sandra and so many of you out there in blog land. Even though we may never meet in person, my life has been enriched and sweetened with your friendship. Sandra has also lost her dear mother and we cry together but also rejoice in knowing we will both see them again. She has a great blog, a great eye and is very creative. I've many many times wished I had the ability to "beam" myself over there in San Diego to attend her shows with her. Oh well, I'll just have to settle for reading all about it on her blog. Also, she picks out some of the greatest music to read her posts by. One of my favorites happen to be playing now, which is Into the Mystic by Van Morrison.

Now to show you all the goodies!!

Here is the pretty packaging...
pretty packaging that Lightning had to check out
The chocolates were promptly gobbled down. OOOO they were sooo creamy and yummy!

how appropriate was the little saying!
ain't that the truth!
Then a sweet little Valentine Card...

I love dragonflies!! This one has some bling! Even better!! (she really knows me!)

Part of what was inside... a sweet friendship magnet!

How adorable are these little stuffed lovey's??? She handmade them! They are so sweet! I happen to love crows and who doesn't love hearts? Their little feet are made of spools.

Here's where I put the dragonfly, right on my desk so he can watch me surf.

I haven't decided where to put my little heart yet, but the crow will watch over the birds outside and the kitchen.

Sandra, you have no idea how you've probably outdone my husband for Valentine's Day!

I really have to thank Sandra for her kindness and friendship. Thanks sistah! This just made my day to open up the mailbox to find that box! Makes me all warm and fuzzy inside :)

Aren't friends the best?!
