A Treasure of a Treasury!

My good friend Theresa of Faerie Moon Creations made this beautiful treasury the other day and I haven't mentioned it yet... (I'm sorry Theresa!). Aren't these beautiful shades of blue? She makes the most beautiful treasuries I think and this time she included something I've made! In the bottom left hand corner is my Man in the Moon Thank You Card.

If you don't know Theresa, go over to her blog first and then make sure you check out her fantastic Etsy Shop under the same name. She makes magical looking jewelry that almost seems from a another time and place, maybe a place that Fairies dwell! She has also started adding her beautiful 2D art work in the form of mixed media and paintings. She even incorporates her artwork into jewelry.

I truly appreciate Theresa's kindness in including me. Thank you Theresa!

Sisterhood of the Traveling Book Update!

I have added a tab for the STB which includes links to everyone and a sneek peek of what I've included with the book. It's just the envelope that contains the names. I will be creating a badge soon. If you are in this project please email me your name and contact email so I can keep everyone updated a little easier. Thank You!

Sisterhood of the Traveling SketchBook Update!

Also, we are still needing 3 more "sisters" to join us for the Sisterhood of the Traveling SketchBook as of this post.  I had 2 more join today making our total 9. Remember we are wanting 12, so if you know of someone that might be interested in participating, please send them this way :)

I will have a different tab and a different badge for the STS coming soon. As the other one, if you are in this project please email me your name and contact email so I can keep everyone updated a little easier. Thank You!

Everybody have a great day!

Happy Convo Today!

Doesn't it just make your day to open up your email and discover a message that something you've made has been included in a treasury from Etsy or a collection from Artfire? It does mine and it did today! Looky! I got into a treasury today called For The Love of Pets from currator CraftbusPlus on Etsy, she has a shop chocked full of stamps and all kinds of goodies to make fun stuff with. Mine is the White Cat Valentine. For those of you who may have seen this before, I remade it into a greeting card (it was a postcard) and I took off the "I hate your guts" line and added a cute inside line. Not everyone has my sense of humor, oh well that's okay... haha :P

I was also in a Collection on Artfire a little while back. That's what they call their treasuries. Same concept though. I've tried making treasuries before and failed. I need to get back on there and give it another try. I want to get in on the fun! In the meantime here is the Artfire Collection called On The Wings of Angels by the currator ByNanasHands on Artfire who makes a variety of things including toys, tote bags, eReader covers and a bunch of other neat things. Mine is the Sad Angel illustration note card set.

Thanks for looking! If you feel like it click on the link and take a closer peek!
Later tater...

Goodbye 2010 and new Treasury

Today marks another year gone by. Can you believe it? I've been thinking of things that I want to do or change for my life and self in 2011 much like New Year's Resolutions but not so rigid. Of course lose weight is in there... ugh. But more importantly I'm still trying to figure out just who I am. Still at 40, ha ha... Who am I? Who am I as a mother? Who am I as a woman, wife, daughter? Who am I as a friend? Who am I as an artist?

I intend to explore the last one in great detail this new year. I feel I am at a crossroads with my artwork. I am not satisfied with much of what I've created and feel I haven't really been creating from my heart. What I really want to create. It is easy to get caught up in trying to guess what will be well received and therefore purchased and all the while lose what it was I was trying to convey with my art and get out what I was truly feeling when I started to create it.

Maybe fear has been interfering with the process as well. Fear of letting someone down with what might come out on paper or canvas. My fear that I'm not good enough, which I'm sure plagues lots of us. Fear of just getting it started and a big one for me, fear of it not turning out as I envision it and letting myself down.

A creative opportunity has presented itself to me as of late and I'm waiting to find out more but I have high hopes and it has renewed my creative spirit which is great even if this opportunity doesn't pan out.

I really enjoy keeping up my blog with tidbits from my life and art and I love it that you peek in and occasionally comment. I so enjoy reading about my online friends too and find great inspiration from all of you. May this new year be the greatest year of our lives so far!

Oh and quickly, one of my greeting cards with my photography has been included in a pretty Collection on Artfire. I also have this card in my GeeJayCreations Etsy shop.

An Artfire Collection

Be safe my friends. Let us not forget the past, but look brightly towards the future. Happy New Year!

"This Artists Observations of the Day"

Feeling of the day: Happy and looking forward to a new year!

I'm lovin': getting some snacks ready for a party tonight with good friends

My view: my son watching cartoons

I thought about today: my mom and how her life shaped mine

I miss: sharing talks with my mom

Best thing I did today: sleep until I woke up!

Dreamscapes Treasury

Happy Sunday everyone! I hope everyone is having a good start to their December. I have been included in a great new treasury on Etsy called Dreamscapes! I am excited and honored to ever have my art included in what someone thinks is worthy. The curator, Jade Pond Crafts, included my Celestial Tulip Orange Dream note card in her collection. She herself does art and nature photography as well as a slew of other arts and crafty things! Thank you Jade Pond Crafts!

In other news, today I went to an art fair in my neck of the woods called Christmas in New Harmony. It has arts and crafts and some very fine ones at that. I got to see friends happily selling their handmade goodies. I have attended this show in years past, in fact it was my very first show ever and it gave me the bug, for a while. But as some of you may know, I've been disillusioned by the show circuit for a while. I just have a bad taste in my mouth, hopefully that taste will go away. Maybe with the new year a fresh start. I felt a certain sigh of relief almost knowing that I did not have to pack up all my stuff to attend, but also a teensy bit of yearning to be included in the festivities. It is a two day show, so it's a bit exhausting. I am always on the look out though for inspiration. I found (and bought!) the cutest little snowmen made from gourds that you can set a battery powered tea light under. I'll share a picture tomorrow when the light is better to photograph it. I always meet the neatest people at these shows.

Witchy Woman

I have been working on some Halloween cards through GeeJaycreations and got into a fun and spooky treasury last night and I'd like to share it with you. A real nice eclectic mix. It's called "Don't make me get my wand" by curator Magpie Sue. Ours is the red headed sassy and brassy witch, which is a fun greeting card.

I've been getting ready for Funk In The City art show this weekend and it seems like it's slow going, but I keep plodding along. It sure makes me feel good to open up my Etsy and discover I've been included in a treasury, especially since I've been struggling with my newest cartoon illustrations. If you get a chance, check it out!

Keep creating out there!

The Fall... an alternative perspective!

I can't believe my luck! Another treasury for my partnered Etsy Shop, GeeJayCreations this time, a piece called "When two people fall in love". We have an art show the 25th of this month called Funk in the City, and I hope that we'll have this kind of luck then too!

If you have a chance, please look at the talented curator of this treasury named Tash Goswami and her Esty shop called VioletSands which currently has beautiful jewelry in it. Tash also has a well rounded interest in illustration, painting, beadmaking, ceramics and many different media.

I have many things to share with you all... in due time.
